S3 Persistence Screens Updated & Improved

The S3 team is following up on our message last month about updates and improvements to the S3 Persistence Management screens, which were included in the last two S3 releases (Nov. 5 and today).

By providing access to an up-to-date list of students on leave, the goals of the revitalized screens are to improve the shared sense of responsibility for retention and persistence efforts across the university and to help inform student support staff, as well as to dynamically update data on students separated from the university.

Whether voluntary or required, the leave and withdrawal process involves several academic and administrative departments, as well as multiple reviews, approvals, investigations (such as tuition refund or financial aid adjustment), and actions. A similar set of people and processes are re-engaged for students who are planning to return from a leave of absence.

Importantly, the screens utilize the existing S3 Memos functionality to notify colleagues and assign tasks, as needed. Users of the Memos functionality are reminded to refer to the Best Practices for S3 Memos & Stellic Notes (pdf) document, which details best practices for documenting confidential and sensitive information.

An S3 Persistence Management User Guide (pdf) has been published to assist with navigation of the screens and functions.

For additional S3 information, user guides and documentation, visit the S3 Project webpage. Questions and comments may be submitted using the Feedback link at the top of your S3 Admin Console.
