Carnegie Mellon University

Welcome to HoltLab@CMU. We are a dynamic team working to understand the perceptual, cognitive, and neurobiological basis of how we listen. We use a combination of tools to tackle questions about how human listeners decode complex sounds like speech.

We are situated in the Department of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University, with tight ties to the CMU Neuroscience Institute, the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition, and collaborators at our neighbor University of Pittsburgh and beyond.

We are excited to be a part of the Pittsburgh Cognitive Auditory Neuroscience (PCAN) network that links students and faculty with an interest in human auditory cognitive neuroscience.
