Carnegie Mellon University

Undergraduates at CMU can choose a major in Linguistics (primary or additional) or a minor in Linguistics that would complement a wide array of majors at the university, including those in Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics, Psychology, and even Computer Science.

Besides relatively obvious areas, however, new connections are being discovered all the time between linguistics and other fields, a point that goes back to the ubiquity of language in human life. Students in the CMU linguistics major and minor are encouraged to make such connections themselves and even to explore new areas where inter-disciplinary work is possible.

Undergraduate Linguistics students also can be a part of the Linguistics Club, an organization that meets weekly to discuss topics in language and host related events.
