Bio

Liz Igo is thrilled to join Carnegie Mellon University as Director of Operations in the Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics within the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences. In her role, she serves as the department’s first point of contact for operational matters and oversees strategic planning and problem-solving across finances, personnel, resources and policy development.

She has long been interested in how systems and structures impact social and environmental outcomes. With a strong background in higher education, she has supported a variety of academic units and collaborated closely with university leadership to ensure smooth, effective operations. Beyond academia, her work has included nonprofit and community-based initiatives focused on social justice, youth advocacy and sustainability.

She lives with her family in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, gardening, baking, practicing yoga and kickboxing, and dancing in the kitchen with her children while trying out new recipes together.
