CEIC's research is supported by core funding from the Electric Power Research Institute.


CEIC’s research in the past few years has been focused on the following areas:

  • Reliability and security of the electric power system
  • Electric energy storage
  • Renewable electric power
  • Demand response and energy efficiency
  • Behavior and energy
  • Carbon capture and sequestration
  • Vehicle electrification

Other recent research topics have included criteria pollutant control, markets and restructuring, nuclear electric power generation, technology learning, transmission, water and energy, and energy forecasting.

CEIC’s research has been funded by federal and state government agencies (43%), industry (32%), and foundations (25%).
