Yoko Nakamura joined the Eberly Center as a Teaching Consultant, International Programs, in 2023. She holds a BA in International Economics and International Politics from the American University of Paris and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Iowa, where her research focused on migration and human rights.

At Iowa, she was a graduate assistant in the Office of Teaching, Learning & Technology Center for Teaching, where she supported various initiatives, including those related to course design, active learning, gateway courses, and early career faculty. She is particularly interested in inclusive, equitable, and transparent teaching, including universal design for learning, and reflective teaching.
