Why Carnegie Mellon for Science
MCS students are immersed in discovery-based research courses during their first year. Once they choose a major in one of MCS’s four departments, students dig deeply into their discipline-specific studies both in the classroom and in the laboratory. Undergraduate research is a key component of this rigorous scientific training. More than 70 percent of MCS students conduct research, exploring real-world problems and discovering new science.
