OHR Honored with Pro Patria Award

Carnegie Mellon University recently received the Pro Patria award from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. ESGR’s Pro Patria Award is presented annually by each ESGR State Committee to one small, one large and one public sector employer in their state or territory. Recipients have demonstrated the greatest support to Guard and Reserve employees through their leadership and practices, including adopting personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve. This is the highest level award that may be bestowed by an ESGR State Committee.

On August 11, the Pennsylvania ESGR hosted an Employer Awards Luncheon to recognize employers across the state for their support of Guard and Reserve employees. The program included presentations by Susan Robertson, PA-ESGR State vice chair, and Major Mark J. Schindler, the adjutant general of Pennsylvania.

Attendees learned that Pennsylvania has the third most reservists of any state in the nation, and that the home of the event, Fort Indiantown Gap (FIG), Pennsylvania, is one of the largest and busiest National Guard training centers in the country, with more than 100,000 personnel training there annually, including reserve-component and active-duty service members and law-enforcement officers. FIG is also the headquarters of the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Todd Rosignoli, assistant vice president of Learning and Development, was honored to attend on behalf of CMU to accept the award, confirming our commitment to supporting faculty and staff members' success through every stage of their employment at Carnegie Mellon. In addition to this award, you can learn about other awards and recognition CMU has received for our employee benefit programs and support services.
