The "Scoop" on our Volunteer Appreciation Event

Osher at Carnegie Mellon University could not exist without the many selfless volunteers who work to make our Osher organization one of the best in the country!  Osher at CMU prides itself on being a volunteer lead organization. Volunteers give countless hours to the many committees and tasks needed to keep us running, and it’s important that we appreciate those who have helped contribute to our outstanding program over the past two and a half years!

To express their gratitude, the Osher staff hosted a recognition event on Friday, September 16th.  Osher volunteers were given an opportunity to take an exclusive student-led tour of the CMU campus followed by an Ice Cream and Appreciation celebration with staff and volunteers in the Cyert Hall Osher Lounge. A raffle was held for those in attendance with prizes provided by the Pittsburgh Opera, the Braddock House Museum, and the Maxo Vanka murals – each of these organizations also provide wonderful courses for our members.

Conversations flowed and laughter was aplenty throughout the afternoon. As we all slowly return to a more normal life after Covid, it was fabulous to spend time together in person.  Osher Executive Director, Lyn Decker, and staff members Olivia McCann and Chelsea Prestia welcomed the chance to thank everyone and look forward a great year ahead.
