THIS WEEK! Osher at CMU Lecture Series presents "Law Enforcement and the Events of January 6th" by Anthony Cortazzo

Chief Anthony Cortazzo heads the Baldwin Borough Police Department. He is an experienced law enforcement office who will speak about the events at our Nation's Capital on January 6, 2021. We have heard much about those events but have not heard from those who had to face the Proud Boys and other extremist groups.  

Chief Cortazzo leads a police department that has achieved two accreditations from the international accreditation of CELEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies). He has spent 25 years with the Baldwin Borough Police Department beginning as a patrol officer in 1996. He rose through the ranks as a Juvenile Officer and Detective before becoming Chief. In 2012, he was awarded the Above and Beyond Award which recognizes the top detective in Western Pennsylvania who dedicated efforts to investigate and prosecute child abuse cases. He received his departments Meritorious Service award for his work on child abuse cases. Chief Cortazzo received state accreditation from the PA Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission. He is currently a PLEAC Commissioner. His leadership of his department includes continued accreditation, updating and training of all officers and a strong emphasis of community policing and developing stronger community relationships.
