Pennsylvania to Receive $1.16B in Federal Funding for Broadband Internet Access

On June 26, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro announced the commonwealth will receive more than $1.16B in federal funding to expand broadband to unserved and underserved areas through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program.

The BEAD funding will be used to extend broadband infrastructure to areas of the commonwealth that currently lack access to reliable, high-speed internet.  The funding will be administered by the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority, an independent, bipartisan agency created by law in December 2021.
