A new task force started by the U.S. Department of Energy, led by Metro21 member Sean Qian and including fellow member Rick Stafford and Executive Director Karen Lightman, has been created to improve mobility in rural Southwestern Pennsylvania. Continuing Metro21's collaborative relationship with Waynesburg University, as well as many other community partners.

The teams proposal is to change the current landscape of rural mobility services which the team states are insufficient, inefficient, unaffordable, and inaccessible. Greene County is 90% rural, but within an hour from Pittsburgh and home to Waynesburg University, making it an ideal test bed for innovative rural mobility platform that be replicated across the United States.
