Metro21 Executive Director Talks "Airport Efficiency Projects" with Axios

Metro21’s Executive Director Karen Lightman provided her expertise in Axios’ latest article, “How automation could make airports more efficient.”

In this article, Karen highlights the increase of traffic that airports across the US and globally have seen since 2016. Between curbside drop-off and pick-up, foot traffic through check-in and security, and navigating the terminals, passengers and airport employees need to be able to have a streamlined airport experience. Technology, and particularly automation, can help to reduce bottlenecks caused by above-average volumes of vehicles and people. She gives Pittsburgh’s own International Airport as an example of partnerships and projects deployed for reduced congestion and increased efficiency.

Karen brings her insights, research, and projected solutions together in this article, available here.
