The internal communications team provides support for community members and leadership who want to communicate to an internal audience. Working with a variety of partners across campus, the team helps share university news through executive emails, storytelling and other relevant strategies. The team’s ultimate goal is to keep the CMU community connected and informed in timely and thoughtful ways.

As director of internal communications, Jen leads strategies and efforts to ensure Carnegie Mellon University’s incredible faculty, staff and students are informed and celebrated. Before CMU, she served as chief communications officer at Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh and in public and media relations roles at Robert Morris, Wake Forest, Johns Hopkins and Yale universities. A native Pittsburgher and proud yinzer, she enjoys spending time with her two amazing daughters and an adorable beagle who barks too much. Her happy place is most definitely the beach.

As internal communications manager, Yana helps the CMU community connect and communicate with internal audiences. Her professional interests span the communications spectrum, with prior experience in social media, research communications, media relations, writing, editing and analytics/business reporting. In her spare time she loves to explore the outdoors, bake and read.
