How Does it Work?

Independent Study

BiblioTech Labs projects are undertaken as Independent Study (check with your department/school for details). A student researcher selects from our list of technology problems or proposes a new problem, and pitches their solution to the client (the BiblioTech Labs Librarian). Accepted projects will be undertaken across the course of a single semester. Student researchers are encouraged to present the results of their research at the annual Meeting of the Minds.

Projects

There are three primary parties involved in the BiblioTech Labs project:

  • Researcher (the student)
  • Client (the University Libraries)
  • Advisor (the faculty)

In addition, a number of other groups around the university provide guidance to BiblioTech Labs projects including:
Each of these plays an important role in the project and the student researcher is largely responsible for directing the project and ensuring that these three parties communicate.
