I hold a BA in Professional Writing and Philosophy from CMU, and I’m currently pursuing a PhD in Rhetoric. In my dissertation, I’m investigating how debates over the US National Security Agency’s (NSA) policies shifted in response to Edward Snowden’s leaks of secret NSA documents in 2013. To do so, I’m applying quantitative rhetorical and keyword analysis, statistics, and close reading to large collections of blog posts published by elite nonprofits and think-tanks since 9/11. I have experience teaching First-Year Writing and Writing for the Professions, and I particularly enjoy working with students to think critically about ideas, argument, and structure.
