Aaron Lauth

Chief of Police

Chief Aaron Lauth began his career with the police department in Ocean City, Maryland, in 1998. He served with the Mt. Lebanon Police Department for the past 23 years. During his tenure, he took on increasing leadership roles in Mt. Lebanon’s Crime Prevention Unit, Patrol Division and Support Services Division, before ultimately becoming its Chief of Police in 2015.

Aaron joined Carnegie Mellon University as its Chief of Police in May of 2022. He is a graduate of the 264th Session of the FBI National Academy. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Mercyhurst University and a master of science degree in strategic leadership from Mountain State University. Aaron is an executive member of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association and serves on a number of regional police association and community boards.
