Assistant Vice President of Business Support Services

Karen Faber is the assistant vice president of Business Support Services at Carnegie Mellon University.  In this role, Karen oversees financial support services for the areas of Facilities Infrastructure and Risk Management, the Office of General Counsel, Computing Services and the Finance Division.  Under Karen’s leadership, her team strives to provide unified services across all administrative units to streamline all financial functions.

Karen is responsible for working with campus groups to develop and maintain the financial integrity of the units and its affiliates.  She is deeply invested in process re-engineering and in the development of business models that represent best practices campus wide. 

Karen’s tenure at CMU has included positions in Sponsored Research, Cash Management, Financial Reporting, and Campus Affairs. Prior to coming to Carnegie Mellon, Karen was the assistant controller at Carlow University. Carlow University is also Karen’s Alma Mater where she earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting.
