  • Additional writing surfaces (whiteboards) around the classroom
  • Floor power outlet towers
  • Enhanced lighting and occupational sensors
  • Improved perimeter heat
  • New infrastructure for thermal comfort
  • Larger projection screens
  • New AV equipment, including enhanced touch panels, wall-mounted speakers, blu-ray players, and ceiling-mounted document cameras (in some rooms)
  • Wifi upgrades
  • Classroom schedule panel [source: SpaceQuest(25Live)]
  • Keyless door access (Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.; weekends, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.)

Additionally, the following will be installed at a later date:

  • Height adjustable teaching stations (temporary instructor tables are currently installed)
  • Motorized shade controls
  • Digital clocks
  • Marker, chalk and eraser dispenser adjacent to classrooms

Technology Enhanced Services is available to assist faculty with classroom media questions. Please email mediatech@cmu.edu or call 412-268-8855 between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., Monday through Friday.

As a reminder, the construction of the new ANSYS Hall building, adjacent to Porter Hall, commenced during Winter Break. Window sound barrier materials were installed to the classrooms located closest to the construction site in order to reduce possible construction noise.

If you have questions or feedback regarding the Porter Hall classroom renovations, please contact Joy Cavaliero, Senior Associate Registrar, at js81@andrew.cmu.edu or 412-268-1907.

Regards,
