Expanding the Language of Hospitality & Belonging
The Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics' art installation on hospitality and belonging, "In the Footsteps of a Stranger," continues to evolve, embodying the richness of cultural exchange. By changing out the text panels to feature ten different languages—Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish—we are able to tell diverse stories that reflect the global nature of welcoming and connection.
Each language offers a unique perspective, inviting viewers to consider hospitality and belonging through a new lens. This ongoing transformation highlights the universal yet multifaceted meaning of hospitality, fostering deeper understanding and engagement with the installation.
Stay tuned as well unveil each language's contribution to this vibrant dialogue.
