What if counterfeit chips were embedded in the electronics of your laptop or smartphone, or new car, or fitness watch, or even your country’s military planes? The consequences could range from annoying to cataclysmic. These plausible scenarios are what a Carnegie Mellon University professor and his graduate students are trying to thwart.
