Late Night-Office of Student Activities - Carnegie Mellon University

What is Late Night?

The Late Night series of events is hosted by student organizations, university departments, and the Late Night advisor. Events take place on a Friday or Saturday night from 10pm-1am in/around the Cohen University Center (CUC). They aim to offer free, fun activities for Carnegie Mellon students.

Interested in applying? Here’s what you need to know:

Starting in the fall semester, there will be 8 Late Night events per semester, with each event getting at least $500! The proposal form has been taken away, and an application has taken its place. When filling our your application to host/collaborate on a Late Night event, please be sure to be very detailed and intentional in your programming ideas. Be creative, think outside the box, and if your organization/department would be interested in hosting/collaborating on an event, but does not have an idea for one, reach out…Late Night has a list of some great possibilities! An application does not guarantee a Late Night event.

Late Night event requirements:
-Event must occur on a Friday or Saturday night during the fall or spring semester
-Event must fall within the 10pm to 1am timeframe
-Event can be anywhere in/around the CUC (can be outside of the CUC, i.e. Legacy Plaza, Merson Courtyard, The Cut, etc.)
-Event must be open to all CMU students
-Event’s primary purpose cannot be a fundraiser for your organization

Preference is given to applications that exhibit:
-Funding from several sources
-Collaborative efforts from multiple organizations/departments
-A likelihood to attract a large number of students
-A unique, creative idea (Need some ideas…just ask!)
