ACS Scholars Call for ProposalsThe Andrew Carnegie Society Scholars invite recognized student organizations to apply for funding for a project or program that will increase the sense of community on Carnegie Mellon’s campus. Community building on campus could include instilling pride and spirit on campus, bringing together students from the different colleges on campus or anything else that would allow students to develop a stronger tie to campus. To access the proposal submission form, please click here. If you have any questions, please contact Nicole Wolford at email@example.com.
Holleran Scholars Program
Longtime devoted friends Jerry (E 1957, IA 1969) and Carolyn Holleran established the Holleran Scholarship Challenge to encourage first-time donors to follow the Hollerans’ philanthropic lead. Through this challenge program, a donor gift of $30,000 is matched by $20,000 from the Holleran’s to endow a $50,000 undergraduate scholarship to the school or college of the donor's choice.
With 100 newly endowed scholarships, the Holleran program educates students about the importance of philanthropy by engaging them in philanthropic activities while they are still in college. Holleran Scholars meet as a group over the course of the academic year and explore a myriad of giving opportunities on campus.
The Holleran Education Fund, also established by Jerry and Carolyn Holleran, provides $5,000 annually to this group so they can make a significant donation to a cause, or group of causes, of their choosing in support of student groups and/or research projects. The funding may be donated in full or divided between two or more projects. Holleran Scholars participate in tours, events and lectures that teach the history of philanthropy at Carnegie Mellon, as well as the importance of giving back to their community.
This application for funding by the Holleran Scholars must be submitted to Ally Sokolowski by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at firstname.lastname@example.org
