Library Accounts

The Carnegie Mellon University libraries require a valid ID Card in order to check books out from the library.

The 9-digit account number printed on the bottom of the ID Card is entered into an online account management system. This number is needed in order to renew books and request books online, too.

Printing & Copying

The libraries also have publicly accessible print release stations and copiers. Both of these require that the user have a valid ID Card with appropriate funds (see Plaid Cash) available on the card in order to make copies or to print. In lieu of an ID Card, patrons may also purchase a separate Print & Copy Card from a vending machine on the first floor of Hunt Library near the copy machines.
