Swartz Fellows: Up Close and Personal with Matt Rogers of Nest Labs

Matt Rogers & the Swartz FellowsOver 400 students, faculty, staff and guests packed CMU’s Rangos Auditorium on January 23rd, for the James R. Swartz Entrepreneurial Leadership Series featuring CMU alumnus and Nest Labs Founder, Matt Rogers (CIT '04, '05). Later, the Swartz Fellows had lunch with Rogers and commented on the visit:

"Matt Rogers gave us an inside look at the unbelievable diligence, resilience, and luck that are necessary to achieve his level of success. It was especially meaningful to hear that story from an alumnus who was in our shoes just a few years ago." Arjun Gopalratnam, (TPR' 15)
"Matt gave a candid talk about how his time at Carnegie Mellon was valuable during his career at Apple and while starting Nest. He provided great advice concerning leadership, product development and entrepreneurship. It was exciting to see a Carnegie Mellon alum still devoted to the community." Noah Tavares, (CIT '13: CIT '16)
"I was inspired by Matt Rogers' willingness to dive into a space like the thermostat, in which he had no previous experience, and completely disrupt it. He and his team are making a positive impact on the world." Trisha Black (SCS '15)
