Linda is responsible for providing academic support for the Carnegie Mellon University community. Linda is responsible for the continual needs assessment of our changing student population, planning, implementation and assessment of all programs (Peer Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, EXCEL collaborative learning groups, and Academic Counseling) related to student academic success and interfacing with the faculty and staff of the university. Linda oversees the management of the student para-professional staff, the department website, payroll and budget, and department advertising. Linda reports to the Associate Provost for Education and has been a member of the Carnegie Mellon University community since July 1997.John Lanyon

John is responsible for the organization, implementation, and evaluation of the department's two main tutoring programs - the evening walk-in service, available in select residence halls, and the standing tutoring appointment service. As part of his duties, John interviews, supervises, and evaluates undergraduate tutors and conducts the CMUS 99-250 Seminar in Peer Tutoring training class every spring. He also coordinates with faculty, staff, and other members of the campus community to explore tutoring and academic support options for specific courses and departments. John has been with Carnegie Mellon since August 2002.Chad Pysher

Chad is responsible for the coordination of both the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program and the EXCEL collaborative learning groups program. As part of his duties, Chad manages, supervises and evaluates both programs. He is responsible for the training and supervision of both SI and EXCEL Group Leaders every semester. He also serves as the instructor for CMUS 99-251, Seminar in Supplemental Instruction. He communicates with CMU faculty in regards to coordinating the appropriate academic support for our community. Chad was a classroom teacher in a local school district for eleven years. He also teaches as Adjunct Faculty in Duquesne University’s School of Education and is currently working on his Doctorate in Education.Jessica Owens

Jessica is responsible for the coordination of the Academic Counseling program. As part of her duties, she manages, supervises, and evaluates undergraduate Academic Counselors and conducts the CMUS 99252 Seminar for Academic Counselors class in the spring. Some of her responsibilities include database management, monitoring workshop registrations, designing publicity materials, and maintaining Academic Development's website. Donora came to Carnegie Mellon in 2003 after fourteen years of service at the University of Pittsburgh.
