Tepper Online MBA Retains #3 Ranking in U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report ranked the Tepper School of Business at #3 among online MBA programs, remaining unchanged from last year’s ranking. Also retained from the 2019 Best Online MBA Programs list, Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School tied for the #1 slot.

U.S. News also included the Tepper School in several specialty rankings, placing the school at #1 for finance, #2 for marketing, and #3 for general management.

This year’s online MBA ranking involved similar metrics to last year’s, with some adjustments to the weighting. The largest share — 30 percent, up from 28 percent last year — is dedicated to student engagement, including graduation rates, retention, and best practices. One quarter of the score is based on expert opinion, calculated via a peer assessment survey. Student excellence dropped from 25 percent to 15 percent this year, including pre-MBA experience, acceptance rate, and GMAT scores. Finally, faculty credentials and student services each accounted for 15 percent of the school’s score, up from 11 percent last year.

This ranking follows the Part-Time Online Hybrid MBA’s #1 placement in this year’s Poets&Quants annual ranking of online MBA programs, which incorporated admission standards, academic experience, and career outcomes equally to determine the overall score.
