Robert M. (Bob) Dammon
Bob Dammon, Tepper School Dean Emeritus and Richard C. Green Professor of Financial Economics Emeritus, is a highly-respected researcher whose work has been published in the most prestigious finance and economic journals, as well as former dean credited with helping transform the school by strengthening and expanding academic programs, interdisciplinary research opportunities, and learning environments.
He led the school during the planning, development, and construction of the signature, state-of-the-art Tepper Quad and rebranding effort; the creation of the highly-ranked Part-Time Online Hybrid MBA program and two new specialty master’s programs; and the doubling of undergraduate business program enrollment.
Raised in Lacrosse, Dammon earned his bachelor’s degree (1978) from the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse, and his MBA (1980) and Ph.D. in financial economics (1984) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He joined the Carnegie Mellon faculty following his graduation, becoming associate dean for education in 2008 and dean in 2011. He returned to the faculty after stepping down in 2020.
Among his honors, Dammon is a three-time winner of the Tepper School’s George Leland Bach Teaching Award (1989, 1997, 2007), has been included multiple times in BusinessWeek's ‘Guide to the Best Business Schools Four-Star Faculty,’ and received the 2004 TIAA-CREF Paul A. Samuelson Award for Outstanding Scholarly Writing on Lifelong Financial Security.
