Bio

Tim is a Manager in PwC’s Innovation Hub R&D group and serves as PwC’s operations leader for CMU’s Digital Transformation and Innovation Center. Tim is a data scientist and researcher with expertise in AI and mixed reality. In addition, Tim is responsible for helping to identify and drive academic relationships, strategic innovation investments, and to shape our positions on emerging technology.

Prior to joining PwC, Tim founded a startup that developed tools for collaborative virtual (mixed reality) design review and version control of building plans. Tim spent nearly a decade as a researcher at the Virtual Reality Applications Center at Iowa State University, working on research in computer vision, computer graphics, AI, augmented reality, and virtual reality, among others, for numerous industry and government entities. During this time, he served as a frequent guest lecturer for courses on computer graphics and geometric modeling. In addition, Tim has held several engineering roles at Honeywell.

Tim holds a PhD with co-majors in Computer Engineering and Human-Computer Interaction, and a masters with co-majors in Computer Science and Human-Computer Interaction from Iowa State University. Tim has a bachelors with co-majors in Computer Science and Mathematics from Mount Mercy University.

He and his wife, K’lissa, have one son, one dog, and two cats, and live in Polk City, Iowa.
