Squarepoint Foundation Gifts $100k to MSCF Incoming Class
Squarepoint Foundation recently demonstrated its commitment to advancing STEM education by providing $100,000 in support to the incoming Fall 2023 class of the Carnegie Mellon Master of Science in Computational Finance program. This gift will be used to award four scholarships to new MSCF students pursuing the degree to kickstart their careers in the quantitative finance industry.
“Squarepoint Foundation selected MSCF due to the longstanding history of the program in delivering outstanding education of the highest caliber,” says Allison Henry, Foundation Manager. “We specifically focused on funding scholarships as a way to support students on their educational journey by helping to alleviate some tuition burden, which can be a barrier to access.”
Squarepoint Foundation’s contribution to MSCF marks the foundation’s first-ever contribution to Carnegie Mellon University. The donation to MSCF is also the first commitment of its size by a corporate foundation to the program; thereby leading the way in support for access to education.
The Squarepoint Foundation fellowship awards will help MSCF attract and retain incredible students to the program. The first to offer a master’s degree in quantitative finance, Carnegie Mellon’s MSCF program continues to enjoy a strong reputation for producing smart, well-trained and highly-motivated graduates. "With resources to award more generous fellowships for students of all backgrounds, we can build an even more diverse and talented community who will go on to make a difference for many others across the world,” says Rick Bryant, Executive Director, MSCF.
Founded in 2021, the Foundation is focused on helping communities around the world where Squarepoint Capital has offices. Currently, it supports local populations by partnering with charities, advancing research and education in STEM, and helping in times of crisis by contributing to relief efforts for events that affect the world as they arise.
