Policies Can Help Limit Eviction Filings

Metro21 Executive Director Karen Lightman discussed the increase in evictions after the 2021 national moratorium ended with Smart Cities Dive, and highlighted policies that cities can use to limit the number of eviction filings.

"Even without eviction moratoriums, cities and states can limit eviction filings through various policy initiatives, many of which are well-known," Lightman said. "One is providing rental assistance to renters at risk of being unable to pay their rent."
