Civic Innovation Closing Event 2021

Civic Innovation Challenge Closing Event 2021

Metro21 attended the Civic Innovation Closing Event 2021 on Friday, June 25, 2021. This event was a moment to celebrate the work accomplished by these researchers, connect the finalists of round 1; people involved in the design, planning, and execution of the research competition, and present the project videos produced by each team. The event started with a public ‘welcome remarks’ session, followed by an enlightening film festival featuring the 5-minute videos teams produced and a cross-team dialogue.

Plenary Session: Welcome Remarks

We heard from the federal partners who funded the Civic Innovation Challenge and had a chance to connect with folks from other teams. This session also focused on how to stay connected to other teams and advance the collective work of the CIVIC Stage 1 cohort. Watch the recording here.

Civic Innovation Challenge Film Festival

The film festival was a chance for every team in the Civic Innovation Challenge to premier their 5-minute project videos. Teams invited their partners, stakeholders, and community members to join their segment of the Film Festival and explore others’ films. Each team was given a time slot. During the first half of each time block, the team videos were played sequentially. The second half of the time block was a Q&A session between the teams whose videos were shown.
