Metro21 Featured in Ethical Corp Magazine

Metro21’s Executive Director Karen Lightman was featured in Ethical Corporation (Ethical Corp) Magazine this month. The publication featured Technology for Good, and Karen spoke about Carnegie Mellon’s involvement with the city of Pittsburgh, particularly in the deployment of Surtrac technology sensors to improve vehicle flow. Karen highlighted the potential benefits of machine learning, such as insights and data information becoming more readily available to policymakers and legislators. By sharing data and relying on an integrated system, she explained, there can be a movement to traffic optimization that can improve commutes for the entire community.

In addition to traffic flow data, Karen also touched on the potential of these sensors to detect airborne pollutants and changes in weather. For more and to read the article, please visit Ethical Corp’s website here.
