Tesla Offers Two Week Trial of Autopilot

As Labor Day weekend approaches and you plan your out-of-town weekend getaway, you might find that Tesla drivers are having a more hands-off approach to their commutes.

Tesla is offering a two week free trial of Autopilot to thousands of customers who did not originally opt for the $6,000 feature. However, there is some concern among those who study autonomous vehicles about the influx of “assisted mobility” on the highways.

Raj Rajkumar, Director of Metro21, was quoted in the article stating that the “technology is far from perfect” and that Tesla vehicles are not necessarily ready to perform on highways during heavy downpours, for example. Raj also mentions several crashes involving the Tesla Autopilot feature for their failure to analyze and react to stationary vehicles on curbside lanes. Read the Full Article
