Metro21 Honors Black History Month 2022

In celebration of Black History Month, Metro21 honors the contributions made by our faculty whose achievements continue to help shape the future.

Dr. Destenie Nock is an Assistant Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) and Engineering and Public Policy (EPP). She joins CMU having received her Ph.D. in 2019 from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. There, she performed energy systems modeling and analysis in both New England and Sub-Saharan Africa, using multi-criteria decision analysis and applied optimization to better equip policy makers to understand energy planning options. In her previous work she assessed the sustainability of different future scenarios for electricity generation in the New England region.

Dr. Corey Harper is an Assistant Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department and Heinz School of Information Systems and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Harper directs the Future Mobility Systems Lab at CMU. Harper’s research interest lies in applying modeling and simulation tools (e.g., agent-based models or regional traffic models) and multi- source data analytics to assess the equity, environmental, congestion, and policy implications of emerging technologies on the transportation system.

Erica Cochran Hameen, Ph.D., NOMA, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP is an architectural designer and Assistant Professor at the Carnegie Mellon School of Architecture. In 2021, she was named the school’s first Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
