Backups are Critical

Automatic backups are critical for protecting your data. Computer crashes, ransomware and accidental deletions are commonplace and easy to prevent.

Crashplan

MCS Technology Services maintains a set of licences to use "Crashplan" by Code42.  Benefits of using the Crashplan service are:

• Constant realtime and encrypted backups from anywhere in the world.
• Protects against ransomware encryptions.
• Mac, PC and Linux compatible. 
• Set it and forget it. We will monitor the backups for trouble and help resolve any issues.
• Restore your own files. No need to submit support tickets for restorations.
• Unlimited* backup space. 
• One license works for 4 devices.

All administrative staff and faculty should have Crashplan installed on their primary work computer. If you are not sure you are being backed up, please reach out to us using the contacts section.

Duplicati and Box

If you do not want to use the MCS maintained crashplan service, you can also use the free backup software "Duplicati" and backup to your Box account.
