The Institute for Strategic Analysis strives to achieve its mission through the following activities:
- Hosting distinguished visitors to inform them about CMU’s research and educational activities related to national security, as well as inviting them to engage with the university community through public lectures, faculty seminars, and meetings with students. Visitors include military leaders, intelligence agency leaders, diplomats, policy makers, statesmen, scholars, and innovators in the private sector.
- Developing and facilitating executive short courses at the intersection of technology and policy for congressional staff members, policy makers, policy analysts, and members of defense, diplomatic, and intelligence organizations.
- Providing a focal point for CMU to enter into deeper engagements with government organizations. For specific engagements, ISA leads joint efforts in proposal writing, meetings with government officials, and faculty deliberations on new research and teaching on national security issues.
