For Requests, Concerns or Space-Usage Modifications
You can speak to our Clean-It Customer Service Rep directly by calling 412-268-2036 between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. If you have a specific request or will be using a space outside of normal occupancy, please contact Custodial Services at cleanit@andrew.cmu.edu so that we can adjust services accordingly.
Cleaning Term Definitions
- Cleaning: The removal of dirt and debris from surfaces.
- Custodial Services: A custodian whose responsibility it is to conduct the full range of cleaning, deep cleaning (when necessary), removing trash and recycling, and restocking paper supplies and soap in kitchenettes and restrooms. Vacuuming and mopping is typically performed at a set interval based on space type.
- Porter Services: A custodian who works during the day and is responsible for ensuring the facility is clean and presentable to the campus community by performing cleaning tasks, such as removing trash and recycling, and restocking paper supplies and soap in kitchenettes and restrooms.

Custodial Services implements a quality management system defined by the Cleaning Industry Experts – ISSA. It’s a comprehensive framework with emphasis on six principles. CMU Custodial Services received the Cleaning Institute Management Standard (CIMS) certification with Honors and Green Building certification in 2018, 2020 and 2022.
