How Flow can help
Flow allows the user to take a reading on a whole population. While Microscopy may give more information on a cellular level Flow lets you see a significant subset of the entire sample in minutes or less resulting in data that may be used to easily compare sample to sample while still maintaining the ability to zoom into a specific cell's data. Flow accomplishes this by flowing cells by a laser resulting in fluorescence and scatter properties being recorded. A common example is cell cycle studies. After labeling cells with a permeable dna binding dye a histogram may be seen showing G1 S and G2 stages and the percentages in each phase.
