Introducing S3 Memos

In support of the S3 MyCommunity feature, which is intended to support the student/advisor relationship, student retention, and on-time program completion, we are delighted to announce the recently-released S3 Memos feature in the S3 Admin Console:

  • On the left-hand side for individual students
  • On the right-hand side for broader access for sets or groups of students or topics

S3 Memos will:

  • Support consistent note-taking and appropriate information sharing across units and with advisors
  • Improve record-keeping for academic advising matters
  • Eliminate the need for note-taking “gray systems” such as excel spreadsheets and paper files
  • Complement existing S3 student records features
  • Contribute to improved advising capabilities and best practices for advisors

Some of the new features include:

  • Add, view, edit, format, and comment on a memo attached to an individual student’s S3 record
  • View who will have permission to see the memo on the student’s S3 record
  • Share a memo with a specific S3 user who is not otherwise authorized, as appropriate
  • Sort, search and filter memos for all students whose records you have access to view

To learn more about using memos, view the S3 Memos User Guide (pdf). For those who wish to take advantage of all the new features that memos offers, we recommend attending a training session, which has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 30, 2019, from 10 to 11:30 AM in the Danforth Conference Room, CUC.

As always, we welcome your feedback and comments, as well as requests for S3 improvements, by selecting the Feedback link in the top right corner of your S3 Admin Console.
