Liberia Newspaper Highlights CEE-TP Classes

A recent report from Data Reportal reported that 78 percent of Liberia’s population was not connected to the internet at the beginning of 2022, meaning that more than 4 million people of Liberia’s 5.2 million people population were offline.

Dr. Darren Wilkins, Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer of the University of Liberia, and a participant in CEE-TP’s Washington D.C. program believes that the numbers might not be completely accurate because Liberia has made strides in bridging the digital divide that he doesn’t think is yet reflected in the reports.

However, Dr. Wilkins recognizes the need for infrastructure investment, policy and regulatory framework, and basic digital skills and he is sharing his experience from his CEE-TP program in Washington D.C. in Liberia’s Daily Observer in his article “Expanding Internet Connectivity in Liberia: Could Starlink (SpaceX) Help Bridge the Digital Divide in Liberia?”
