Carnegie Mellon University

Diversity and Inclusion

The strength of our university rests within the diversity of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and board members. Our diversity of thought, of ability, and of individuals has allowed Carnegie Mellon to become one of higher education's greatest success stories in the modern era.

We are a community that values and respects attributes that make us, as individuals and as members of our groups, distinct. And, as our work continues to transform the world, we remain steadfast in our resolve to be inclusive of who we serve in our communities and in society.

Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion

The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion is an affinity group space that provides resources for all students to achieve an inclusive and transformative experience. The center's mission is to support and connect historically underrrepresented students, including those who are first in their family to attend college. As a campus-wide program space, the center's team provides a venue for conversations to take place around privilege, racism, societal norms and owning diversity for the university. In addition to having their finger on the pulse of our campus climate, the center provides resources that involve mentoring, academic advisement, and integrating diversity and inclusion into CMU's classroom and research portfolio.
