At Carnegie Mellon University there are many opportunities to engage in thoughtful experiences inside and outside of the classroom that enhance the student experience. The Leonard Gelfand Center supports students teaching courses at CMU (StuCo). It also supports student and faculty efforts for educational outreach to the community. The Undergraduate Research Office supports students’ engagement in undergraduate research across the fields of arts and humanities as well as science and technical fields. We encourage students to make the most of their experience at CMU by participating in a wide range of high impact practices including: taking writing-intensive courses, participating in undergraduate research, engaging with diverse others in meaningful ways, participating in service learning and gaining internship experience.
The Leonard Gelfand Center for Service Learning and Outreach creates and supports activities that enable Carnegie Mellon students, faculty and staff to use their expertise and energy to improve the quality of life or solve problem in the community, with a focus on initiatives that improve opportunities for children in STEM areas.
The goal of the Undergraduate Research Office (URO) and Fellowships and Scholarship Office (FSO) is to introduce undergraduates at Carnegie Mellon to the range of opportunities that can enhance their development as scholars.
