Accident Prevention and Reporting

Accident prevention is a large part of safety and is everyone’s responsibility. Management leadership, faculty, staff and student participation is essential to ensuring that all hazards are identified, addressed and accidents are prevented before they occur.  Preventing accidents can be completed through:

  • Hazard identification and assessment
  • Hazard prevention and control
  • Education and training
  • Program evaluation and improvement

If an accident does occur, no matter how slight, it should be reported to EH&S. Reporting all accidents and injuries provides a learning opportunity, a chance to identify root causes and to implement corrective actions.
