Opportunities for Part-Time Research Assistants to Conduct Online Experiments

Dr. Bonnie Nozari’s lab in the Psychology Department at Carnegie Mellon University (https://www.cmu.edu/dietrich/psychology/nozarilab/) is seeking part-time Research Assistants (RAs) to conduct online experiments aimed at understanding the cognitive architecture of language production in the human brain. Specific experiments may include studying learning processes during typing, transfer of such learning between different typing environments, and the impact of various autocorrect algorithms on learning and performance.

The RA will work closely with the PI or the graduate students, and must be able to work with online programming platforms such as PsiTurk. Example scripts are available in our lab, but the RA should be prepared to implement new designs. Beyond that, the level of engagement is flexible. RAs who are interested in cognitive science can become more intellectually involved in the conception of the experiments. Those interested more in the design aspect can take on more implementation and less conceptual responsibilities.

Qualifications: Students must be full-time undergraduate students at CMU. Programming skills are necessary for this position (Python or MATLAB). Must be able to work with online platforms such as PsiTurk.

Work site: All work is remote for Fall 2020. Presence on campus or in Pittsburgh is not required.

Work hours: Flexible hours. Between 6-12 hours a week.

Pay: Payment starts at $10.50/h and is commensurate with skills.

Duration: Fall 2020 with potential for extension.

Application process: Please send a CV and a brief description of your qualification for the position and the reason for your interest to Dr. Bonnie Nozari ().
