Behavioral Brain (B2) Research Training Program

Carnegie Mellon University & University of Pittsburgh

B2 Diversity

B2 trainees are a diverse group, with 55% coming from one or more underrepresented groups (26% underrepresented minority, 23% ability disadvantage, 23% economic disadvantage); 64% have been female and 23% LGBTQIA+.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION Training in the B2 PROGRAM

B2 trainees and their faculty mentors commit to at least 10 hours of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) learning during the two years in which the trainee receives B2 support. This learning is flexible in form so that it can be tailored to individual needs and interests.

One hour of this training is led by Ms. Ayana Ledford, Director of Diversity and Inclusion, who has deep expertise in advancing DEI initiatives with in‐depth knowledge of theory, research and practice that drive institutional improvements toward DEI. She will lead B2 trainees and their mentors in a discussion of the results of our Climate Survey.

The remaining training may come from institutionally sponsored DEI workshops and events.
