Camagüey, Cuba – An Interactive Documentary
Associate Teaching Professor Ralph Vituccio of CMU's Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) and filmmaker Andres Tapia-Urzua created an immersive documentary-making course, providing students with a hands-on experience in Camagüey, Cuba during spring break. In this unique course, students from various disciplines collaborated to conduct interviews and film stories of Camagüey’s residents, capturing the city’s diverse voices and perspectives.
Back on campus, students transformed their footage by editing video, designing user interfaces and testing interactive elements to create a dynamic, user-centered experience. This course was offered through CMU’s Interactive Design, Arts and Technology Network (IDeATe) and the Department of English.
