Bringing French Culture to Life through Immersive Student-Created Experiences

In Spring 2018, students in a redesigned French & Francophone Studiescourse traveled to Nantes, France, to immerse themselves in local culture and language while creating innovative multimedia projects. Their work spanned a range of interactive experiences, from an immersive website showcasing the historic Nantes Cathedral to a virtual reality journey with “Le Grand Elephant,” a 60-foot-tall mechanical marvel, and even an augmented-reality board game that combined traditional gameplay with 360˚ video footage of Nantes. These projects allowed students to creatively bring Nantes to life for audiences back on campus.
