The photo-z estimation problem: a review

This talk will be a review of the problem of estimating galaxy redshift from photometric data: what is the problem, why is it important, why is it difficult, what are the solutions and what are the outstanding challenges, at least from a statistical perspective.  I will talk about this as far as possible in the context of the LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration, for which solutions to this problem are an important requirement.
