Goodmove NewsflashIn an effort to keep fit, you start your day with a jog around the neighborhood, followed perhaps by a protein shake, and a jaunt to catch the bus. You used to need a pedometer, calorie counter, and mileage tracker to track everything until recently downloading the free Moves app. It can differentiate between biking, running, and walking, so now you, along with 4 million other downloaders, can maintain an “active diary of your life.”

Moves, created by Aapo Kyrola (CS’14) along with five partners, was selected as top app of year 2013 by both Apple and Google. It also caught the attention of Facebook, which acquired the startup earlier this year for an undisclosed price. Kyrola has also joined Facebook as a software engineer.
